The best electrician to install a new light switch in Palm Beach Gardens is Swink Electric, with the experience and know-how to get the job done right. We don’t often think about the light switches in our homes until we have to.

It is a small electrical device that hasn’t really changed much for the everyday user. That is why we don’t really give them a second thought. Not to mention, they are very reliable.

In fact, we often blame the light or the electrical wiring when we flip a switch and nothing happens. That’s how reliable light switches have become. The best electrician to install a new light switch in Palm Beach Gardens thinks a little deeper than surface level when it comes to light switches.

In fact, did you know our light switches have an average lifespan? Swink Electric can help ensure you don’t get to the end of that lifespan and then find yourself in a situation where the switch doesn’t work when you need it most.

How Often Should You Replace a Light Switch

There is no exact update schedule that electricians follow for replacing light switches. Most of us won’t even think about replacing a light switch unless itis visibly in need of replacement.

Unfortunately, the switch itself is just the forward-facing part of the mechanism. There are electric components working behind that faceplate. The average lifespan of a light switch is 15 years.

The risk of failure, or worse, increases with each passing year. Adding features to the switches decreases that lifespan. Smart light switches and dimmers may last less than 15 years, depending on quality and materials.

More features make life easier, but each one introduces another potential point of failure. Swink Electric is the best electrician to install a new light switch in Palm Beach Gardens whenever you’re ready.

How to Tell When a Light Switch is Going Bad

Swink Electric is the best electrician to install a new light switch in Palm Beach Gardens when you’re ready. The question most of us want to ask is: when do we know we’re ready for an upgrade?

Usually, the front-facing parts of a light switch will start to go before the internal components. That means it is time to think Swink when you start to notice your light switches sticking, flopping, or being loose overall.

You will notice the internal components are starting to go when you smell burning while the switch is flipped on, it is hot to the touch, or there are unusual sounds coming from the switch. Those are signs it is time to call for an emergency light switch replacement.

How to Modernize Light Switches

The world of light switches is more exciting than you may think. There are different ways to modernize light switches, some aesthetic, others functional. The best electrician to install a new light switch in Palm Beach Gardens can handle them all.

We are all familiar with the most common flip light switch, and dimmer wheels or rocker switches are fairly common as well. However, there are new ways to dim, new ways to rock, and smarter ways to turn on a light.

You can upgrade to a sleeker design or one with more functionality than your current light switch. A few common upgrades include smart light switches, snap-on faceplates, dimmer switches (both wheel and slider), and changing the materials of the faceplates. All of these upgrades will alter their appearance, subtly changing the room.

We bring the experience and the know-how to every job site we visit. Our experience helps us ensure we arrive promptly, conduct ourselves professionally, and leave without a trace. The only way you’d know Swink Electric was there is by the functioning electrical aspects of your space.

“Electrician, from Swink Electric Inc., came same day I called. He was very knowledgeable. Fixed my electrical panel and troubleshoot small appliances, TV power issues. I asked to have him label my panel, all was done and I am very happy with Swink Electric Inc. I recommend this company!!!”

“I used them on a development job and they did a great job. Looking forward to working with them on future jobs.”

“Excellent professional, friendly service! Recommend for all business and home electrical needs.”

What is the Job

Swink Electric is a residential and light commercial service contractor. You will be using your electrical skills to diagnose and fix real problems in real houses and small commercial buildings across Palm Beach and Martin Counties. You will not be driving to the same empty building with no drywall hundreds of times.

A normal week looks like this:

• Troubleshooting – dead circuits, nuisance trips, failing devices, backfed neutrals, the stuff that takes an actual electrician to find
• Panel and service upgrades, including meter cans and service masts
• Chandelier Installations
• Condo and Home Remodels
• EV charger installations, which are growing every year
• Fixtures, fans, devices, remodels, and additions in homes people actually live in
• Commercial service calls for small business clients and HOAs

You will be the face of Swink Electric to our customers; they will talk to you and rely on you to assess the problem, explain it clearly, and fix it. Those who like to be in charge of their own work, like to figure out issues, and be the person to also figure out the solution, this job is for you.

What the Job is Not

Swink Electric is owned and operated by a family that values time just as much as you do.

• No out-of-state storm work. You will not live in a hotel.
• No travel crews. Every job is inside our service area, Stuart down to Boca Raton.
• No production new construction. We are not a tract builder’s rough-in crew.
• No mandatory overtime and no regular on-call rotation.

Schedule

Swink Electric is open Monday through Friday during normal daytime hours. We have no on-call rotation. Yes, emergencies happen, and someone may need us occasionally. However, that would be the exception, not the rule. Your weekends are yours, plain and simple.

Pay and Benefits

You can expect your pay to fall between $29 and $36/hour, depending on your license and experience. That would put your 40-hour workweek at roughly $60,300 to $74,900 a year.

For context on where that sits in this market: the average electrician’s wage in West Palm Beach is about $28.55 per hour, or $59,380 per year. Our starting rate is above that average, and the top of our range lands above the 75th percentile for the metro. We would rather pay well and keep good people than run a revolving door.

On top of the hourly:

• Take-home company van – fueled and stocked. Your commute is in our vehicle, not your truck, and you are not putting miles on your own vehicle to get to work.
• Paid time off
• Paid holidays
• Performance bonuses
• A real path upward if you want it — lead electrician and beyond. We are a small enough team that the person who steps up is obvious, and we promote from within.

Why the take-home van matters if you live in Wellington, FL

Our shop is about half an hour across Highway 98 from Wellington. Not a bad commute, but it won’t always matter.

With a take-home van, it gets shorter. You are not driving to the shop to pick up a truck and then backtracking to your first call. You leave home, go to work, and at the end of the day, you drive home. On the days your work is south of the shop, you may never drive over to the office at all.

What we need from you

• Verifiable residential and commercial service experience – you can walk into an unfamiliar house and troubleshoot without a phone call for help
• A valid Florida driver’s license and a clean enough record to drive a company vehicle
• Your own hand tools
• The ability to talk to a homeowner like a professional. You are in their house. How you carry yourself is part of the job.
• Bonus points: Journeyman certificate of competency

We are not hiring helpers or apprentices for this position. This is a role for an electrician who can run a service call independently from start to finish.

About Swink Electric

Swink Electric is a family-owned electrical contractor based in West Palm Beach, licensed in Florida. Doc and Amy own and run the business together, and it is small on purpose – a handful of electricians, not a hundred. Your name is known here. So is your work.

Our tagline is “Powered by Professionals.” We mean it about the people who work here, not just the ones who hire us.

Apply

If you are a licensed service electrician in or around Lake Worth Beach and this sounds like the kind of shop you have been looking for, we would like to talk.

• Apply online
• Call or text: 561-683-1512—texting is fine; we know you are on a job site
• Email: admin@swinkelectric.com

The application takes about five minutes. If you have a journeyman card, mention it — it affects where you land in the range.

Hire the best electrician to install a new outlet in Palm Beach Gardens. New outlets, upgraded outlets, from a reliable electrician. Technology rules our world from the moment we wake up until the moment we fall asleep, 365 days a year.

We rely on those tech devices to do just about everything, but none of them can operate without a charge. Having enough outlets in your space is reason enough to hire the best electrician to install a new outlet in Palm Beach Gardens.

However, technology’s fast pace means not only do we need outlets to power our devices, but our outlets have become devices all in their own right. There are many reasons you will want to call Swink Electric for your outlets, and we’re prepared to assist with all of them.

What is the 6/12 Rule for Outlets in a House?

It is true that the National Electrical Code, or NEC standards in the US for outlets in a building of any kind, once required one outlet per room. This changed quickly from a number of outlets per room to a distance between outlets.

Now, the standard is 12 feet between outlets, assuming a 6-foot cord can reach an outlet from anywhere in any room. That is the 6/12 rule that the best electrician to install a new outlet in Palm Beach Gardens should follow.

The goal of this rule is to prevent people from using extension cords, as they pose an additional hazard. Homes built before the 6/12 rule came into effect might not have enough outlets.

The only solution for that problem is to call Swink Electric to install new outlets.

Types of Outlets

Many of us are familiar with the three main types of outlets, including GFCI, AFCI, and standard outlets. The best electrician to install a new outlet in Palm Beach Gardens can work with any of these outlets.

Knowing the difference can help our clients make better-informed decisions. GFCI outlets, or Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter outlets, are designed with safety in mind.

They have internal mechanisms that cut off power within milliseconds of detecting a current leak or water contact. These outlets are required in bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoors. AFCI outlets, or Arc Fault Interrupter outlets, detect dangerous electrical arcing and will shut off as well for safety.

We are all familiar with standard outlets. Each of these outlet types has a purpose and a place in your spaces.

Upgrading Existing Outlets

Swink Electric is the best electrician to install a new outlet in Palm Beach Gardens. Outlets have become tech devices in their own right. We now have outlets with USB ports for charging smaller devices, outlets with Wi-Fi connections so we can control our things from afar, and the list goes on.

All of these outlets seem like a one-for-one switch. However, they have different power requirements for safe operation. It is important to ensure that your electrical panel and wiring can safely handle the new outlet.

It may require a GFCI or AFCI outlet due to an aging electrical system.

Best Electrician to Install a New Outlet in Palm Beach Gardens

We have more than 50 combined years of electrical experience and more than 35 years of project management experience. We are ready to handle any type of outlet installation in your home, office, or business.

“Great service even though there was some issues along the way. The pricing is and the owner and service men are very courteous and responsive.”

“Had an electrical issue at my mom’s house. They showed up on time and fixed the issue promptly. I wasn’t at the home at the time and it turned out to be a simple fix, where as as dishonest company could have said it was something more. Very Happy with them. Damon was out tech big shout out to him!”

“Amy was amazing and worked hard to get Service to our Condo same day. The electrician was friendly and efficient and thorough. Would definitely call again.”

“2nd time using Swink. They are extremely professional and always do an excellent job. I will definitely use them in the future and refer them to my friends.”

Swink Electric is the best electrician to install a new outlet in Delray Beach, whether it’s a tech upgrade or just an aesthetic one. Times were simpler when all we had to plug in was a lamp or a TV.

Now, we have devices for everything in every room. Florida follows the National Electrical Code (NEC) for outlet standards in buildings. However, those standards have changed and adapted over time.

For example, in 1928, the NEC was two outlets per room, not two sets of two outlets. Could you imagine having a room with a single pair of outlets these days? Now, we can also add to the mix that people are plugging different things in all the time.

We went from two-prong plugs to three-prong plugs, to USB. Now, there are just so many reasons to upgrade or install new outlets throughout our homes. Gone are the days when you had to sit in an awkward position so your phone could stay plugged in while you doomscrolled on the couch.

Let the best electrician to install a new outlet in Delray Beach help make that happen for you.

NEC Outlet Standards

Outlet standards existed to help keep us safe. However, times have changed. The way electricity is sent and delivered to our homes is much safer than it was before. We already know the standard was one outlet set per room; that just won’t do today.

Luckily, the standard was changed in 1935 to distance rather than an exact number. For example, there were supposed to be two outlets in a room, then the spacing changed to every 15 to 30 feet, and then it was reduced to 20 feet in 1937.

NEC changed the standard again in 1959 to the rules we follow today: at least 6 feet and no more than 12 feet apart. It is easy to see why hiring the best electrician to install a new outlet in Delray Beach is important.

We can ensure that proper standards are followed and everything is installed safely. We haven’t even dove into the different types of outlets we have these days.

Types of Outlets for Upgrading

There are multiple types of outlets that the best electrician to install a new outlet in Delray Beach can install. Most of us are familiar with the two most common, including the standard outlet and the GFCI outlet.

The standard is just an outlet; the GFCI outlet, or Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter outlet, is the one with the two buttons in the middle. These outlets allow us to test the power at the outlet, and they automatically shut off if they detect a problem.

Then there are the AFCI outlets, or Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter outlets. These outlets detect dangerous electrical arcing and will shut off power when it occurs. Both GFCI and AFCI are safety features with specific uses, such as when upgrading an old outlet.

Best Electrician to Install a New Outlet in Delray Beach

Installing an outlet isn’t difficult, but it’s hard to do properly without training or experience. Swink Electric has all the education and experience to get the job done correctly the first time.

“Swink was fantastic. I had an urgent matter and they managed to do an impossible deadline and did a fantastic job. I so appreciate everyone at Swink Electric.”

“Swink did many things for me over the last two days from installing fans to recess lighting. The technicians were prompt, communicated well and did a very nice job. They were also very neat/tidy. I would recommend this company.”

“They are the best! They are super careful with my high end fixtures and can trouble shoot all electrical issues in my home. I don’t write many reviews and the fact that I write one for Swink is a testament to how fabulous they are to work with!”

“The work was done in a timely manner. The new panel that was installed looks great. The two men who did the work were professional and stayed right with the job until completed. I recommend Swink’s highly.”

The best electrician to install a new light switch in Delray Beach is Swink Electric, whether you’re doing a whole remodel or just a quick update. Light switches are among the most touched surfaces in our homes.

We usually just tap or flip it, but that small touch makes a difference. They wear down over time and can look a bit run-down. However, the most common reason people want to install a new light switch is to update it to one with more features or one that is easier to use.

Changing a faceplate on a light switch is simple: just unscrew the faceplate, put the new one in place, and screw it in. However, updating a light switch requires more electrical know-how to get the job done.

Anyone can screw something in, but diagnosing wiring, testing electrical currents, and ensuring proper grounding is best left to the best electrician to install a new light switch in Delray Beach: Swink Electric.

Types of Light Switches

Updating a light switch to something more modern, better suited to today’s world of technology, is not as simple as flipping a switch. Electrical work is dangerous and, if not done properly, can lead to an emergency.

A light switch is a connector between two different points. One point brings in the electrical current, and the other sends it out to whatever you’re turning on. This means there are a couple of ways this can be dangerous.

Luckily, Swink Electric is the best electrician to install a new light switch in Delray Beach. We are prepared to update your light switches however you’d like. You may even want to change what the light switch operates; that’s a job for us as well.

Are Wires Still Live When the Switch is Off?

Doing a little DIY around the house is a good way to spend a weekend. However, there is a line we must draw that indicates the need for a professional. Electrical work is dangerous and, if not done properly, can lead to an bigger problems, and potential fire hazards.

Electricians go through education, testing, and certification processes to learn how to deal with wiring.

Those who have not have the training and experience shouldn’t tackle a project that requires checking the wires. It is a good idea to call the best electrician to install a new light switch in Delray Beach if you need help.

Best Electrician to Install a New Light Switch in Delray Beach

Installing a light switch is not difficult, so long as you have the right tools and procedural know-how. We have the tools; we have the experience; there are reasons we believe we are the best electrician to install a new light switch in Delray Beach.

“Made the appointment and was able to get one pretty quickly, technician came exactly when they said and he was a pleasure.”

Best electrician near me Boynton Beach for repairs, EV chargers, surge protection, and remodels. 50+ years of experience. Call (561) 683-1512 or book online. Searching “best electrician near me Boynton Beach” will only get you so far; you must do a bit more to find the best Boynton Beach electrician.

Those search terms mean you most likely need an electrician. Of course, you can’t trust your electrical work to just anyone, so the search for the best begins. Calling around and getting offers is a good way to gauge the average cost of the job.

Obviously, you need to factor in your budget and time restraints, but reviews are far from enough. You need to know what to look for in an electrician before you hire them. This way, you can rest assured you’re in good hands.

Everything starts with licensing. Most electricians are licensed, but you may come across some who aren’t. The question is, what does licensing matter when all you want is an outlet replacement?

Best Electrician Near Me Boynton Beach

We completely understand that budget is the biggest factor for most homeowners and businesses seeking an electrician. However, that budget is at risk when you hire an unlicensed electrician. A Licensed electrician is held to a higher standard.

They also come with liability insurance, which unlicensed electricians simply can’t get. Sticking to your budget is important, and Swink Electric can discuss options, but skimping on insurance is risky.

It is important to factor that into your budget. Experience is the big difference between a quality job and one that cuts corners. Experience is what helps speed up the job.

We have more than 50 years of combined experience in electrical work and over 35 years in project management.

We believe clear communication is an important aspect of a successful team. Here’s what you can expect:

What the Job Actually Is

Swink Electric is a residential and light commercial service contractor. You will be diagnosing and repairing problems in real houses and small commercial buildings across Palm Beach and Martin counties — no pulling the same home run a hundred times in a building that has no drywall.

A normal week:

• Troubleshooting – dead circuits, nuisance trips, failing devices, backfed neutrals, the stuff that takes an actual electrician to find
• Panel and service upgrades, including meter cans and service masts
• Chandelier Installations
• Condo and Home Remodels
• EV charger installations, which are growing every year
• Fixtures, fans, devices, remodels, and additions in homes people actually live in
• Commercial service calls for small business clients and HOAs

You will most likely be the face of Swink Electric to the clients you work with. That means you will get to size up the problem, explain clearly so they understand the issue and the repair process, and then complete the job. Those who enjoy being in control of your job, figuring out problems, solutions, and implementing them, this job is right for you.

What the Job is Not

• No out-of-state storm work. You will not live in a hotel.
• No travel crews. Every job is inside our service area, from Stuart down to Boca Raton.
• No production new construction. We are not a tract builder’s rough-in crew.
• No mandatory overtime and no regular on-call rotation.

Schedule

Swink Electric is open Monday through Friday with normal business hours. There will be no standing on-call rotation; your free time is your time. We all understand that emergencies happen in this trade, and we may need to stretch to cover those emergencies. However, those emergencies will be the exception, not the rule. We like OUR free time, too.

Pay and Benefits

$29 to $36 per hour, set by your license, your experience, and how independently you can run a service call. At forty hours a week, that is roughly $60,300 to $74,900 a year.

What the Take-Home Van Means for You

Swink Electric is in West Palm Beach, right near the Publix. However, you may only need to come to the shop a few times a month. Many days, you can take the work van from your home to the job site without ever stopping by the office. This helps keep up our reputation as a prompt, reliable electrical contractor and makes life easier for you. We love a good win/win situation.

• We are not hiring helpers or apprentices for this position. This is a role for an electrician who can run a service call independently from start to finish.

About Swink Electric

Swink Electric is a family-owned electrical contractor based in West Palm Beach, licensed in Florida. Doc and Amy own and run the business together, and it is small on purpose — a handful of electricians, not a hundred.

• Call or text: 561-683-1512 — texting is fine; we know you are on a job site
• Email: admin@swinkelectric.com

The application takes about five minutes. If you have a journeyman card, mention it — it affects where you land in the range.
